Sailing Catamaran Charters in Punta Cana
Sailing catamarans are the heart of the Punta Cana charter fleet, and for good reason. Two wide hulls keep the boat flat and stable on the water, the shallow draft lets the captain anchor right up against the beach where the snorkeling is best, and the deck has room for a real group — shaded lounge, sun pad, and trampoline nets at the bow — without anyone feeling cramped. Whether you're chartering a sailing catamaran for a half-day cruise along the Punta Cana coast or a full-day run to Saona Island, you're getting the most comfortable, photogenic, group-friendly boat the Caribbean has to offer.
Every catamaran in our fleet is a true sailing cat with a full mast and rigging. The sails go up the moment you leave the beach, the Caribbean trade winds fill them out, and your charter starts looking like the postcard you came here for. It's the closest thing to a sailing vacation you can fit into a single day in Punta Cana — and the boats are built to make the most of every minute.
Where Sailing Catamarans Go
-
Punta Cana coastline cruises — half-day trips along Bavaro and Cabeza de Toro with a swim stop at the reef. Best for couples, small families, and groups who want a relaxed afternoon on the water
-
Saona Island full-day charters — the long downwind run south to Isla Saona and the Natural Pool. The trade winds usually mean a real sail on the way out and a comfortable motor back.
-
Sunset sails — 2 hours along the coast as the wind drops, drinks in hand, the sky going pink
-
Private events — birthdays, bachelorettes, vow renewals, corporate groups
If you're leaning toward a faster, air-conditioned ride instead, our motor yacht charters are probably a better fit. If you already know you want the long Saona day, start with the full-day options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will we actually sail, or is the engine running the whole time?
On most days, yes — the captain raises the sails as soon as you clear the marina and the wind allows. Punta Cana's trade winds are strongest from December through July. On calm days the cat motors instead, but you'll still get the catamaran experience: stable, spacious, perfect for swimming and lounging.
What's the difference between a sailing catamaran and a motor yacht?
A catamaran is wider, more stable, and built for groups of 10–40 who want a relaxed party-boat or family vibe. A motor yacht is faster and more upscale — better for couples, small groups, or anyone who wants air-conditioned cabins and to spend less time getting where they're going.
Can we charter a sailing catamaran for a half day or only a full day?
Both. Half-day charters cruise the local coastline (3–4 hours), and full-day charters head down to Saona Island (9–10 hours door-to-door).
Is sailing rougher than a motor yacht ride?
Slightly. A catamaran under sail will heel a few degrees and you'll feel the wind, which most people love. Catamarans don't roll the way monohulls do, so even guests prone to seasickness usually do fine.
How many people can we bring?
Sailing catamarans in our fleet range from intimate 6-guest cats up to large 40+ guest party catamarans. Tell us your group size and we'll match the right boat.
